Making a big splash for IHCC

On Saturday 2 December a group of 14 men, and Andy age 5, took up the ‘Aquaman challenge’.  This unique charity event saw them undertake one hour of aqua aerobics in the Club Infinity pool at the Holiday Inn Luton, South Markyate.

The men where challenged by the ladies at the Club after they commented on how easy aqua aerobics looked. Hence the challenge line was created. AQUA AEROBICS IS NOT FOR WHIMPS! The men strutted their stuff for an hour in the swimming pool doing strenuous aqua aerobics led by Julie and Linda, the instructors.

The fun packed event was taken in good heart with much merriment knowing that all the sponsorship money raised was going to support a worthy cause.

IHCC Charity is a locally run by volunteers and focuses on the prevention, screening and treatment of hearing impairment in children in Uganda. They have two clinics in Kampala as well as a mobile clinic which takes their much needed service out to the slums around the city. Good hearing outcomes for these underprivileged children is vital for their future prospects. The event has raised over £1,000 which will go towards the roll out of IHCC’s new born baby screening programme in Kampala hospitals.

A big thank you to Karl the manager at Club Infinity and our instructors Linda and Julie. We’d also like to thank Chris from the Holiday Inn who supplied soft drinks and refreshments for everyone. A big shout out to Cafe Jeera, Harpenden for providing delicious samosas for all.

And of course thanks for our intrepid brave men, and Andy, who are now enjoying a well earned rest!
